Prerequisites 

  • Ensure you have the correct level of access to make these changes
  • Ensure you have the main Group Policy template or Office Customization Tool (OCT) for your version of Outlook


Configure Safe Senders list using Group Policy 2013

  1. Launch Group Policy
  2. Load the Outlook 2013 template
  3. Under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Outlook 2013 > Security
  4. Click Automatic Picture Download Settings
  5. Open Automatically Download Content for E-Mail from People in Safe Senders and Safe Recipients Lists
  6. Click Enabled > OK


Configure Safe Senders list using OCT 2013

  1. Launch the Office Customization Tool (OCT)
  2. On the Modify user settings page
  3. Under Microsoft Outlook 2013 > Security > Automatic Picture Download Settings
  4. Open Automatically Download Content for E-Mail from People in Safe Senders and Safe Recipients Lists
  5. Click OK.
  6. On the File menu
  7. Click Save to create the customization file that you can deploy to users.



Notes:

  • Users can manually remove entries from the safe senders list within their Outlook. If a user deletes a domain from the Safe Senders list and restarts outlook the item will reappear in the Safe Senders list if the policy remains in affect.


  • If a user adds a new entry to the Safe Senders list in Outlook, the item will be removed if you are deploying the items for that tab by using Group Policy and if you also enable the Overwrite or Append Junk Mail Import policy.


  • By enabling this policy, you force Outlook to overwrite items in the list with the items specified in the list for the corresponding policy.
